2nd Annual Thanksgiving on the Mayflower
The cold, rainy weather wasn’t enough to stop people from coming out to support a local charity even this past weekend. Premier Relocations, an agent of Mayflower Transit, teamed up with 98.7 AMP radio and Gleaners Community Food Bank for the second annual Thanksgiving on the Mayflower to collect food for those in need this holiday season. With four different collection points set up across Metro-Detroit, non-perishable food items were collected from November 14-17. Mayflower trucks were onsite to hold the many boxes of donations, which far exceeded anyone’s expectations. A total of 14,367 pound of food items were collected, which equates to roughly 11,660 meals that will be provided to families and people in need of good meal.,/p>
“It is really exciting to see the support from the community for such a great cause,” said Les Biegel, assistant general manager of Premier Relocations. “We more than doubled our results from last year and we plan on continuing to grow each and every year.”
Value Center Market and Neiman’s Family Market allowed the radio station and the Mayflower trucks to set up in their parking lots over the four day collection period. On-air radio personalities kept people entertained with their live broadcasts while Premier representatives had fun promotional items to give away.
