— Intrastate moves in the State of Michigan are defined as the transport of goods between two locations, separated by a distance of more than 40 miles, without crossing state lines. From origin to destination locations – Lower Peninsula to Upper Peninsula – you will have access to the experience and expertise of Premier’s professional relocation teams.
Premier Relocations is an established, licensed and insured, full-service moving and warehouse storage company based in Michigan. Our company provides many different types of professional relocation services, including intrastate moves for customers based in Southeastern and Western Michigan. Michigan intrastate moves are governed by the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), and all movers of household goods in Michigan are required to be licensed through this agency to transport goods within state boundaries.
When determining costs for intrastate relocations, moving companies must legally comply with the MPSC tariff – an official schedule containing rates, charges, fuel surcharges, rules, and regulations, pertaining to the movement of household goods. Accordingly, all costs for move transportation, fuel surcharge, warehouse storage, released or replacement value protection, and special provisions are tariff based. Special provisions, such as labor and materials for packing of household goods, and additional stops for pickups and deliveries beyond the origin and destination locations, are also tariff based. Customer requested accessorial services, such as third-party appliance disconnect and reconnect, and clock and piano preparation, are not tariff-based, and can be coordinated by moving companies for an additional charge. Customers requesting intrastate estimates from more than one licensed moving company in Michigan, should receive equivalent estimates for equivalent tariffed-based services.

Move crew members are cross-trained in the packing, moving and delivery processes, are professionally dressed in uniforms, and will be courteous and respectful of you, your home, and your belongings. At household locations, crew members will cover your floors, and pad wrap door jams and stair banisters, to protect both your residence and your belongings. They will disassemble your furniture for the move and reassemble those same pieces at your new residence. Crew members will carefully wrap your furniture in shrink wrap and pad wrap, and use specialized moving equipment to load and secure your belongings inside our professional van for safe transportation. At destination, crew members will unload your belongings safely inside of your new residence, placing your furniture, cartons and boxes in the rooms of your choice.

Estimates and Actual Costs
To determine costs for intrastate moves, non-binding estimates are prepared for Premier customers through free on-site surveys. The actual cost for each move is calculated after: 1) all special provisions have been provided; 2) the distance traveled by the moving company between the origin and destination locations has been determined; and 3) the actual weight of goods has been established. To obtain an actual weight of household goods, moving vans are weighed on a certified truck scale just prior to loading a shipment and, again, just after loading a shipment. The difference in weight is the number used to calculate this portion of the transportation charge. Customers have the right to be present during the weighing process, and should contact your relocation specialist prior to load date to obtain the location of the truck scale. Once you have registered your move date with Premier, be sure to let your estimator know in advance if anything changes that could affect the cost or the timing of your move.
